So excited to meet you!

Updated: Feb 2, 2021

Let’s work together to make weight loss surgery the best decision you have ever made. I know this is a very scary time. Patients often fear the preparation for surgery, the surgery itself, and the changes in diet and lifestyle after surgery. Most fear is the unknown. There is an excess amount of misinformation out there, including many bariatric forums. I maintain a membership on a few forums just to see what patients are curious about and I can confirm that much inaccurate information is being shared. I have my own forum called Cast-A-Weighs on Facebook on which I maintain a strong presence. Click the Facebook Icon on the top of this site to request acceptance into the group.

If you want to succeed, you need to know the facts. If you work with me, I guarantee you that the information you receive is accurate because I have over 25 years of experience as a dietitian and over 11 years specializing in bariatric surgery. I am working on my doctorate of clinical nutrition. I have pride in providing evidence-based practice. I have a clear understanding of current practice guidelines for weight loss surgery. You will be educated on appropriate vitamin and mineral needs, bariatric diet guidelines, diet stages, calorie and macronutrient (carbohydrate, protein, and fat) goals, weight goals, and how to manage tolerance issues like diarrhea, vomiting, dumping syndrome, and sticking. Because I have been specializing in weight loss surgery for so many years, I have knowledge on how to manage nutritional complications such as vitamin and mineral deficiencies, tolerance issues, and inability to meet requirements.

There is no judgement here. I understand the disease of obesity and the struggles that accompany it. My experience includes food addiction and eating disorders. The struggle with sugar is real. The inability to be active due to knee and back pain or fibromyalgia is genuine. I understand metabolism and effect on metabolism from disease, aging, and obesity itself. We will take it slowly, together. We set goals together. We work together to achieve those goals.

I want to see you succeed. I want to be the person you reach out to for every non-scale victory like the first time you can cross you legs, fit in a smaller size clothing, don’t need a seat belt extender, or walk your first mile. I want to be there for your successes and struggles. I can be the person you call if you find yourself slipping into old habits. I can help you avoid the dreaded weight regain.

I vow to be there with you through your entire journey from the day we meet and for as long as you need me. You don’t have to worry about me moving away because this is a virtual program. I will get back to you in a timely manner when you reach out. I am easy to access by e-mail, phone, text, or our private Facebook group (Cast-A-Weighs). I am looking forward to your journey!

Let’s do this- together!
