Happy New Year, everyone! I am super excited to share my career plans and the programs available to you! As you may know, I have moved to Maine but will continue to spend my summers in Narragansett, RI. Steward Healthcare, who I worked for years ago, approached me to work virtually for Saint Anne’s bariatric program (Fall River, Massachusetts). My start date is January 24, 2022, and I can't wait! I will be seeing their patients (virtually) on Wednesdays and Thursdays. I will share more about setting up an appointment through their program if you need to rely on insurance coverage.
I am also excited to see patients through my private practice called Bariatric Success. Visit my website at www.ourbariatricsuccess.com to set up a nutrition visit now being scheduled on Mondays and Tuesdays. If these days or times do not work for you, please reach out, and we can schedule an appointment that works for you. I do not accept insurance through my private practice; however, my fees are low at $60 for initial visits and $30 for follow-ups. All classes are only $15.00 per person. Support groups are free.
I have posted all support groups for the upcoming year. Please note the topics, dates, and locations are subject to change. We will continue to meet twice per month; one meeting will be a presentation on a particular topic with some discussion. The other meeting allows you to multitask by exercising (walking, indoor bike, yoga, whatever you wish) while we discuss and provide support for each other. I got this idea from Kathleen, a patient who walked on her treadmill whenever we had a discussion group, and I was always so jealous she was getting her exercise done at the same time. Now, I can do that too, and so can you! I also posted all support groups’ descriptions and dates in the Events tab of our closed Facebook group "Cast-a-weighs ."If you are not already a member, join us. Our membership has grown to over 600 members. We have an incredible group of patients who have the experience and motivation to give you the support you need to have long-term success!
As for me, I will have a busy schedule with my private practice, support groups & classes, working for Steward, and continuing to seek my doctorate through Rutgers University. I am just about halfway through the doctorate program. I will start working on my dissertation soon. I did have my first article published entitled "Promoting Weight Loss Success following Bariatric Surgery through Telehealth" and I am in the process of writing additional papers. The quarterly journal, Topics in Clinical Nutrition, published my article in the January/March issue.
I hope this letter finds all of you in a great place. If you need a dietitian, struggle, or want accountability, I would love to meet with you. Feel free to set up an appointment by visiting my website at www.ourbariatricsuccess.com, emailing me at janelsylvestre@gmail.com, or calling me 401-286-2015.
Thank you all. I am looking forward to a busy, successful, and exciting year together!
Jane
